Called in sick to work today. This cold I’ve been fighting for a week finally sank its teeth in and kept me in bed. Might as well make the best of it and blog a little, right? Especially since I’m leaving for Miami tomorrow (the spirit is willing, at least).
I’m running over my four most recent essays in my head and I realize something: it’s hard to post an entry that doesn’t seem fresh. That’s not to say I won’t polish them up and put them online soon, just that they don’t seem to resonate as much as they did in the moment I wrote them. I’ll take that as a lesson: post as soon as you write, lest the sentiment fade.
One thing that may be prolonging this illness is the amount of cycling I’ve been doing lately in order to post photos to flickr. I think I took over 300 on Amelia Island. I used my handy little miniSD converter to transfer them to a flash drive, but dang it if lappy refuses to read it. You’d think USB would be plug and play, right? Not with Windows98. The trials of a six-year-old computer are starting to wear on me. I wish I could afford an apple.
In any case, it’s a half hour ride one way to the library and I’ve made the roundtrip for the past two days. I could drive, sure, but I prefer the ol’ two birds bit of getting exercise while running errands. So. I’m still thinking of you, I still have things to post, and I have been at work, just on the moblog. The blog may look lean, but the days are fat with promise. To prove it, here are my favorite recent photos.
Have a great New Year and I’ll seen you upon my return in 2006 (with hundreds more photos, no doubt)!

As is typical, I find myself so far at the end of the day that the date has changed, with a thousand things to blog about competing with a desperate need for sleep. Suffice it to say that work must come first, and an alert mind is a prerequisite. Thus this may go down as one of my shortest entries, but I just wanted to let you all know that I am aware you’re waiting for something new. Believe me, I have it, but I knew November and December were going to be busy this year and they have surpassed my expectations. I have over 250 photos to upload to flickr and two entries already penned, awaiting transcription. But you’ll have to wait. In the meantime as a peace offering I give you a new banner based on a sunset over my neighborhood canal from last week. Enjoy it, and know that I have loads to relate as soon as I find the time!
